Reading winners
From left, Demetrielle Washington, Andrew Reimers, Taylor Pousson and Steven Perry claimed top positions in the Little Cypress-Mauriceville finals of the 104th Annual Miriam Lutcher Stark Reading Contest. Declamation winner was Reimers, reading a speech given by Bob Keeshan to the National Education Association. Washington was second in declamation with a speech given by Sojourner Truth. Interpretation was won by Pousson reading "The Smell of Oranges" by J.J. Jonas; and Perry was second with "Love is a Fallacy" by Max Shulman. The students will receive $2,000 in college scholarships for first and $1,500 for second.
